Gavin qualified at The University of Natal with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree. Gavin has spent most of his working career with blue chip corporate companies. He initially spent his early years working for the Unilever group of companies, providing commercial services to the various world renowned FMCG brands housed in the Unilever group. Joining Pick n Pay in 1985 at the Natal regional office, Gavin cut his teeth on operational retail, due to Pick n Pays’ focus on all management being intimately involved at regional level in the day-to-day operations of the business. In 1991 he moved as Chief Accountant to run the Pick n Pay Durban Hypermarket. Joining the Clicks Group in 2001 in Cape Town, Gavin was intimately involved in the commercialisation of the corporate pharmacy model as well as bringing financial and commercial acumen to the groups’ store operations. Gavin finished his time at Clicks, heading up the Store Operations Finance portfolio.
Henri is a seasoned retailer who has spent the last 33 years with various Blue Chip retail organisations in South Africa and the Middle East. He is well versed in multiple retail formats with extensive exposure to many of the world’s top retail brands ‘best practices’. Henri’s previous position as COO for the ‘Landmark Group’ based in Dubai included full P&L ownership for 4 corporate-owned countries as well as heading up the International Division where Landmark traded in a further 9 countries. With the Country General Managers as direct reports, he assumed responsibility for all retail and commercial aspects of the business, ensuring the groups strategies were implemented, in order to achieve the set growth objectives. Previously as a member of the Clicks Group Operating Board, Henri was responsible for the operations of 420 Clicks stores nationally, of which 300 stores had in store pharmacies.
Henri is currently the Managing Director of Toy Kingdom, a subsidiary of the Super Brands group.

Brian is a Logistics professional, who has over 40 years senior managerial experience in Logistics and Supply Chain management with Blue chip retailers in South Africa and the Middle East.His resume of positions include: Senior Logistics positions with SA Breweries; Logistics Director, The Foschini Group; Senior Logistics Executive, Shoprite Checkers; Logistics Director, MH Alshaya Group operating out of Kuwait with over 500 franchised international brand stores in 9 countries; Senior Vice President Logistics, Altayer Group, based in Dubai the UAE, with many of the most sought-after brands in the world in the retail and automotive sector.Brian has travelled extensively worldwide researching and where necessary implementing the most advanced warehousing systems and equipment, both during his working career and most recently as a Consultant based in the Western Cape.During his working career with Foschini, the Company was awarded both the ‘Runner Up’ and ‘Logistics Achiever Awards’ over two years for its contribution to applying advanced warehousing and distribution operations in Southern Africa.Brian has also been honoured with a Life Time Achiever Award in the Logistics field and nominated as Supply Chain Manager of the year in 2010 in recognition of his contribution to the industry in the Middle East.
Caroline had a solid 18 years in retail operations before following her passion and specialising in Visual Merchandising with the Stuttafords group in Johannesburg. In 1997 she transferred to Cape Town with the group to merchandise, manage and open the first freestanding Joseph Cotton, Oaktree and Homestore stores in the V&A Waterfront. In 1998 she joined international award winning retail designer Liz Muller to open Liz Muller Design, where Caroline project-managed and offered a specialist Visual Merchandising service to clients. As a Marketing tool for Liz Muller, she began offering retail training packs to tenants via shopping Malls. Through this training, a gap to service Independent retailers was identified – in 2000 she opened her first specialist retail consultancy – ROC (Retail Operation Consultants) After connecting with Derek Patrick owner of TDC (The Design Company) she worked on contract for the next two years as the specialist visual merchandising consultant on the development and launch of the new @home chain.
Gary is a highly experienced creative in the arena of retail communication. He qualified with his National Diploma Graphic Design in 1998 from the Natal Technikon in Durban and has since covered 18 years in the advertising and design industry. Gary has worked on International brands like Aston Martin and McLaren as well as on national retail brands like Coricraft, Virgin Mobile and Geen & Richards. His core retail competencies are: Creating retail communication that is visually appropriate for the target audience and representative of the brand; Art-directing the overall creative direction of retail communication; Designing price-pointing that is effective and easily understood by the consumer; Overseeing ‘design and brand consistency’ across a promotional campaign; Overhauling the retail architecture of a brand.
Haley is an HR Professional with 14 years experience with Blue Chip Retailers, small to medium size enterprises within manufacturing, as well as within call center and data driven environments. Hayley has provided functional HR business consultation and support with a strong focus on talent management, recruitment & selection, learning and development, project management, facilitated integrated individual and team growth, restructuring, planning and implementing company change. She played a key role in the successful implementation of compensation and organisational change (Time and Attendance System – SAP) nation-wide in over 420 retail stores. She designed, developed and launched a Beauty Academy, an Operations Leadership Development Program, and implemented individual and team performance management programs, linked to company strategic objectives within a number of organisations.Hayley is an accredited enneagram practitioner, Integral coach (Graduate School of Business) and has the ability to identify opportunities for individual, team and organisational improvement.
Jessie is an experienced Human Resources practitioner who has successfully partnered with individuals and teams to turn their professional vision into a reality. She consults to a range of South African companies, from small privately owned companies to large multi-nationals in the areas of culture and change management, executive coaching, organizational design, leadership development, talent management and performance enhancement. She is passionate about empowering businesses and individuals in HR best practices. Matthew is an experienced retailer, who has spent the last 30 years working retail in South Africa. He has worked in various areas including Store Operations, Buying, Space Planning, Business Project Management and IT project Management. Matthew’s current expertise is as a stocktake specialist and as a high performing Project Manager who has been involved in various large project implementations such as ERP implementation, time & attendance, and Omni Channel projects. His experience includes to mention but a few: Operational Implementation at the Clicks group of ERP2 point of sale and back office package – Storeline (retalix); Project Management in Clicks operation/finance of cash handling project in conjunction with Standard Bank; project manager and administrator and setting up a Clicks NGO– the Helping Hand Trust; pilot project of a Workplace systems labour scheduling tool and locum database tool; Assisted with training of SAP HCM and T&A rollout in foreign countries; Project manager for the opening of new Clicks stores in Swaziland, Botswana and Lesotho.
Mike is an experienced retailer, with a career that spans more than 33 years working for blue chip companies. His experience spans various disciplines including store and field operations, project management, merchandise planning, human resources, finance management, medical aid and enterprise risk management. As the industry representative of big business he served as a non-executive director on the board of the Wholesale and Retail Seta. More recently, Mike has guided management teams through a process of identification, assessment, and prioritization of risks and ensuring that appropriate mitigation strategies are applied to their business model. Strategies to manage threats typically include avoiding the risk, reducing the negative effect or probability, or transferring all or part of the risk to another party.During his spare time, his passion for the military finds him in the South African Navy Reserve where he serves as a decorated senior officer.
Clive has extensive Merchandise Management, Sourcing, Supply Chain, e-commerce, and marketing experience from start up to large scale operations, he has made significant contributions to innovation and strategy at an executive board level in Edcon (Merchandise Director), Woolworths (Senior Executive – Non Foods), Topics (Managing Director), Clicks ( Head Merchandise, Marketing and Supply Chain), International Carpets and Textiles (Managing Director), Meltz Stores (Chief Operating Officer) and Lippo Group (Consultant to the Board).
